After the tragic deaths of her husband and two sons, Naomi finds herself alone with her daughters in law in the land of Moab, which literally means a place that does not require change. So, as Naomi sets out to return to her homeland of Bethlehem-Judah, she bids them to go back to their parents homes. Orpah returns but Ruth refuses and clings to her. Naomi again tries to convince Ruth to go, yet Ruth replies, as the ever so popular scripture states “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God”.
